Fulton Street Films Turns Wine Web Site into Wine Series
Caldwell, NJ July 28, 2004 -- Fulton Street Films has just signed a deal with Wine Ventures LLC to bring the unique perspective of wine education and humor to the small screen. “I am not sure if it was the cheap Chilean Cabernet or just the fact that these guys have a great sense of humor and are well informed on wine, we hit it off immediately. Most importantly, our creative perspectives on developing the show matched well from the initial meeting.” Stated Tia Hodge President of Fulton Street Films. “My biggest concern is reeling them in as their chemistry and spontaneity leaves the crew in stitches.” Uncorked- A Slightly Irreverent Look at the World of Wine promises to cover the roads less traveled by the current shows on wine and the wine industry. Dedicated to the offbeat, Uncorked’s pilot episode features the wines of New Jersey. “We approached NJN with the pilot, but we just weren’t politically correct enough for them, even with the full support of the Garden State Wine Growers Association. It seemed like a natural for a wine show about New Jersey’s wine industry to air on the New Jersey Network-PBS’s affiliate for New Jersey,” lamented Host Wino Bob. The team is currently in discussions with a distribution firm in California.
In 2000, long time friends Bob and John created a web site devoted to the enjoyment of wine. Now in its fourth year, www.winostuff.com has readers from around the world checking to see the offbeat comments the two are making. “Up to that point, wine web sites were either extensions of wine retailers looking to broaden their market share or wine gurus using the web as an extension of their publications, we wanted to create a site that approached wine from a totally unique point of view.” Stated Wino John, the technical brains behind the site. “We wanted to stress the enjoyment of wine while bringing some educational value to the novice, its not about smelling saddle leather or barnyard in the wine, its about getting passed the intimidation of the pretentious, pedantic wine sommeliers and wine merchants.” added Wino Bob. Winos and Winettes being the nickname by which they refer to their fans. The site provides a plethora of links to wineries and wine related companies. The central theme is that wine is not just for the collectors and social elites. Do not be frightened when handed the wine list at a business dinner; rather try something new and exciting from the New World of wine. The wine reviews feature a large number of wines under $40.00 as all wines reviewed are purchased by the team. Be prepared, the reviews are bolstered by anecdotal tales around which the wine was consumed, beware; the unique, humorous and sometimes bizarre stories are what the readership keeps coming back for.
